NIE
The NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero) is your personal identification number in Spain, assigned because you have an economic, professional or social reason to be identified here.
If you need to be officially identified in Spain for an economic, professional, legal or administrative reason (for example, a property transaction, tax matter, inheritance, business activity or certain banking procedures).
For example, a German citizen who wants to buy a house in Mallorca, or a US citizen who needs to open a bank account in Spain.
- We can represent you in Spain, so you don't have to travel here.
- It is not a residence permit.
- It does not give you the right to live in Spain.
- It comes with no card.
How we handle your NIE application
We check that the NIE is right for you
We review why you need a Spanish identification number and confirm that a standalone NIE is the correct procedure for your situation.
If another immigration or residence procedure is more appropriate, we tell you before starting.
We prepare your application
We prepare your EX-15 application and review the documents that prove why you need the NIE.
This may include documentation related to a property transaction, inheritance, tax matter, business activity or another specific reason.
We choose the right application route
Depending on your situation, we identify the appropriate route to apply:
- in Spain;
- through the competent Spanish Consulate;
- or through a representative, when permitted.
We prepare the government fee and help arrange the corresponding appointment.
We support you until your NIE is issued
We stay with you throughout the process, assist with communications in Spanish when needed and help respond if the authority requests additional documentation.
Can we apply for you?
In some cases, you may be able to obtain your NIE through an authorised representative without travelling to Spain.
We check whether representation is available for your specific application and, when applicable, guide you through:
the Power of Attorney;
apostille requirements;
passport documentation;
the documents required for your representative to apply on your behalf.
We confirm what your specific office or Consulate accepts before telling you whether you need to travel.
Additional support if needed
Spanish bank account
If you need a Spanish bank account as part of what you are doing in Spain, we can connect you with our banking partners and support you through the account-opening process.
We help you:
understand the available options;
connect with the appropriate banking partner;
prepare the information required;
complete the account-opening process.
What we need from you
- Your valid passport
- Documented proof of the reason (the notary's, bank's or agent's letter, contract or draft deed)
- Either your attendance or a power of attorney that expressly authorises your representative to apply for the NIE. We confirm what your specific office or consulate accepts before promising you will not need to travel.
Our job is not to fill in a form. We make sure your reason is justified, your route is the right one and your representation is valid — so your closing, inheritance or tax deadline is not the thing that slips.
